Potential Tournament Season Team Options
-
Singular Tournament Team: In situations where there's a shortage of players or varying skill levels within a grade, the club may opt to form just one tournament team per grade level. This decision ensures that every child has the opportunity to participate in tournament play, regardless of their individual skill level or the number of available players.
-
Dual Teams Based on Skill: When there's a significant disparity in skill levels among players within a grade, the club may form two teams to accommodate this variation. In this scenario, the top third of players consistently participate in tournaments, while the middle third rotates between tournament play and league games. The bottom third of players typically compete in lower-level tournaments or leagues. The Board annually assesses and determines the skill ranking for each player, ensuring fairness and equal opportunities for all participants.
-
Dual Teams with Balanced Skill: In instances where the skill levels of all players within a grade are relatively similar, the club may decide to create two teams with equal skill distributions. Both teams practice together under the guidance of all coaches, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie. These teams then compete separately in tournaments, with an additional "A" team possibly participating in more competitive events. This approach aims to provide a balanced and competitive experience for all players involved.
In all cases, it's important to note that not every child may be selected to participate in the tournament season due to constraints such as the number of available players, coaching resources, or current skill levels.
Additionally, there's a strong emphasis on sportsmanship as players represent Benton Community to other communities around the state during tournament play.
